2008 Mission Opportunities

Whirlwind Missions:  This ministry led by North American Mission Board missionary Tim Cummins targets the international community living in apartments in and around the Doraville, GA area.  We have opportunity to have an on-going ministry with Tim.  It involves Saturday mornings, 9:00 to 12:00 Noon.  No cost.  We would like our church to be involved in this ministry once a month.  A Bible Fellowship Class might select a month, for example.

Tara Plantation:  Once a month on Sunday afternoon FRC conducts a worship service at Tara Plantation Nursing Home in Cumming.

Disaster Relief:  We have opportunity to work with the Forsyth County Sheriff Department when there has been bad weather in the county that has left trees down and other destruction.  We want to have a team ready to respond quickly with chain saws and other clean-up equipment.  This team would be available to help in larger disasters as well.

Eagle Ranch:  We provide meals once a month to the Peace and Hope Homes at Eagle Ranch in Flowery Branch, GA.  We also lead special events throughout the year, such as pancake breakfast, fishing tournament, bonfire, Thanksgiving meal, Christmas gifts, etc.  Special events usually take place on Saturdays.  No cost.

Families on Mission:  Our first FRC Families on Mission trip to Bryson City/Cherokee, NC in June is full.  Plan to be a part of the next Families on Mission project.

World Changers:  Pray for our students who will be participating in a World Changers missions project in Birmingham, June 14-21, 2008.

South Africa:  A team from FRC will be conducting a Leadership Training event August 30 - September 6, 2008. Local Johannesburg pastors and other church leaders and their wives will be trained in the fundamentals of the faith. This project already has the needed number of team members. Please keep us in your prayers as we train others to lead the people of South Africa to Jesus.

Moldova:  A team from FRC will be installing and painting a playground; ministering at a Day Care Center; helping out at OM headquarters (computer/IT, painting, minor repairs, car mechanic); and outreach activities with local churches. The dates are October 18-25, 2008.

Uruguay:  A team from FRC will be dedicating two new Redeemer Churches in Montevideo. We will also be conducting outreach projects such as community service, literature distribution, sports, and others. The dates are November 7-15, 2008.

Croatia:  We will connect with the Evangelical Theological Seminary in Osijek and possibly have teaching opportunities in the classroom.  We will also assist one of these student pastors as he plants a new church, or ministers in an existing church.  We will do outreach projects that support his strategy.  Date and cost to be determined.

India:  We will be dedicating a new Redeemer church in Calcutta.  William Carey the Father of the Modern Missions Movement spent his life introducing the gospel to this area.  To plant and dedicate a church there will be a highlight of FRC’s missions ministry.  We will also do outreach projects that support this new church.  Date is March 2009.  Cost to be determined.
