WHAT ARE THE END TIME JUDGEMENTS? | PART 5 OF 5

What are the 2 end time judgements?
The End Part 5, Two Judgments– Aug. 30,2020

1st Judgment: The Judgment Seat of Christ

2 Corinthians 5:10 (NIV2011)
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.

1 Corinthians 4:3-5 (NIV2011)
3 I care very little if I am judged by you or by any human court; indeed, I do not even judge myself. 4 My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent. It is the Lord who judges me. 5 Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart. At that time each will receive their praise from God.

The Judgment Seat of Christ occurs after the rapture

Who? The Judgment Seat of Christ is for Christians

All Christians are judged All Christians are judged individually

Purpose? The Judgment Seat of Christ administers rewards, not punishments

John 5:24 (NIV2011)
“Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.

Romans 8:1 (NIV2011)
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus…

Eternal rewards are earned “while in the body”

Are you earning eternal rewards? - How effectively do you employ your God-given talents and abilities?
(Matt. 25:14-29) - How generous are you with your money?

(Matt 6:1-4) - How well do you endure personal injustice and mistreatment?

(Matt. 5:11-12) - How patiently do you endure sufferings and trials?

(Jas. 1:12) - How much time do you invest in God’s Kingdom?

(Eph. 5:16) - How well do you control your fleshly appetites?

(1 Cor. 9:25-27) - How many people will be in heaven because of your testimony?

(1 Thess. 2:19-20) - How faithful are you to God’s Word and to God’s people?

(Acts 20:26-28, 2 Tim. 4:1-2) Second Judgment The Great White Throne Judgment

Revelation 20:11-15 (NIV2011)
11  Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. 12  And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13  The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. 14  Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15   Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.

When?
The Great White Throne Judgment occurs after the Millennium

Who?
2 Thessalonians 1:8-9 (NIV2011)
8  He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9  They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might.

The Great White Throne Judgment is for those without Christ

Purpose? The Great White Throne Judgment administers eternal punishment

Two books:

Revelation 20:12 (NIV2011)
12  And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.

Galatians 3:10-11 (NIV2011)
10 For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.” 11 Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because “the righteous will live by faith.”

Revelation 20:15 (NIV2011)
15  Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.

Closing question: What is taking so long?

2 Peter 3:9 (NIV2011)
9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
