C.S. Lewis (1898-1963) was a British writer and scholar, best known for his works of fiction and Christian apologetics. He is considered one of the most influential Christian writers of the 20th century, and his works have sold millions of copies worldwide. Lewis wrote the Chronicles of Narnia series, a beloved set of seven fantasy novels for children that have been adapted into movies and television shows. He also wrote numerous works of theology and apologetics, including Mere Christianity and The Problem of Pain, which are still widely read today. Lewis was a fellow and tutor in English Literature at Oxford University, where he was also a member of the Inklings, a literary discussion group that included J.R.R. Tolkien.
