NEWSLETTER JANUARY 20223 VOLUME 10 ISSUE 1 JANUARY 2020

Dear Friends,

Happy New Year! About this time each year, I reflect on what someone once said, “No matter what a man’s past may have been, his future is spotless.” As time marches into a new year, we each have empty pages on which to write the next chapter of our story. The 12 months before us are a “blank slate” and I, like you, want 2023 to be the best chapter yet.

That’s why I love goals. Without them, life can become an aimless journey plagued by the detours of distraction and urgency. With them, however, life can be an intentional and purposeful journey toward a desired end. Goals can help us prioritize our time, effort, and resources toward ends that really matter.

For me, goal-setting is about pursuing things that last forever. Life seems to be full of detours that lead down paths of temporariness. Staying the course toward a life that really matters requires goals fixed on eternal things. Perhaps that’s why the Bible urges us to run our race with perseverance, “Fixing our eyes on Jesus.” A life that pursues Jesus really pays off in the long-term.

As you consider your goals for 2023, I believe God is calling our church family – both individually and corporately – to pursue God-sized goals for eternal impact in the coming year. That’s why I believe that, for First Redeemer Church, 2023 may very well be the best chapter yet. And I can’t wait to get started!

All for Him,

Pastor Jeff
